SILVER, ARTHUR PA'YTON
25 YEARS OLD | DURHAM, NC
Q: Have you ever been in an uncomfortable situation? How did you overcome it?
A:"Our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers." - M. Scott Peck
Now that the journey is complete, I completely understand how it feels putting yourself in an environment where you're uncomfortable, yet willing to adapt to change to find out you were right all along.
Beginning my first semester in July 2012 at the Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham was frightening and my heart was filled with fear. I was committing three and a half years to something I knew nothing about, didn't know where I'd even end up, but knew I wanted it for myself. So much so I couldn't let my fear outweigh my faith because I was called to do this.
Starting out learning bits and pieces of programs and the fundamentals of design, everything seemed to click after a year and a half. I soon began to see a pattern, which was conquering everything that presented itself to me. Gaining confidence day by day didn't stop those moments of uncertainty. Visions of failing haunted me before presentations, then realizing I never had anything to worry about because I always received good feedback. Growing in Christ and keeping my faith is what brought me to complete what I started. I received my BFA in Graphic Design, with a 3.7 GPA December 2015.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Inspiration is everywhere! It's part of my job to be stuck in front of a computer for hours at a time. Of course we all get inspired from other designs or social media sites. I tend to find inspiration in music, nature, and in the home decor section in stores. I've always had a positive, creative and optimistic view of the world, so my passion shows in every aspect of my life.
Q: Do you sometimes feel "not as creative" on some projects you take on?
A: When I'm not feeling as creative, or experience what we call "designers block", I use that time for research and shifting my focus; waiting for that idea to come to life.

KYLE HYMAN | THE OFFROADER SUPPLY CO.
In 2017, we began our search for a talented Graphic Designer and branding expert to help us re-design a logo for our brand. We had decided to re-brand, and choosing a graphic designer to work with throughout the process was a very important decision, and one that we did not take lightly. After searching far and wide, and interviewing over a dozen candidates, we were fortunate to come across Pa’yton.
Pa’yton’s portfolio and passion for design and typography immediately stood out from the rest. We were reluctant to make a final decision on portfolio alone, but after speaking with him and hearing his genuine interest for the project, it was a no-brainer for us. From the very beginning, Pa’yton took the project under his wings as though it were his own. He provided feedback (both good and bad) where needed, asking questions, refining and validating assumptions we had made about the brand. He challenged us to really take the time and consider the typography, colors, design details we were creating, and we could not have been more happy with the outcome.
Almost a year later, Pa’yton has quickly become a strategic part of our business. Today, he is now considered a member of the team, a friend, and one of (if not) the first person we reach out to for ongoing brand strategy & consultation, graphic design, and as of recently, product development.
Working with Pa’yton, you will not just be investing in a talented professional, but you will be investing in someone you can count on, and who will take a genuine interest in making sure your project, and your business are well taken care of. I highly recommend Pa’yton, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be working with him.

Pa’yton Silver is most definitely a unique talent. His work is inspiring and insightful.
Pa’yton has the genuine creative talent to take a concept and create an idea from the outset in an efficient and professional manner to provide you with whatever level of design concept you need - from a simple logo to a full business identity package.
Pa’yton is organized, responsive, courteous and reliable. Highly recommended by myself and enthusiastically by all of his peers from The Art Institute where we first met.

Some creatives learn their craft over time, and some are just born. Pa’yton Silver falls into the latter category as he is a design intuitive. I’ve worked on a number of projects and will continue to rely on him for all of my graphic design needs.
